Hidalgo County Inclusive Park

For the Children

Eddie Cantu put our communities and our children first when he developed plans for parks we use today. The P2 Inclusive Park promotes wellness and awareness for future generations to come.

Designed by Capable Kids Foundation, in partnership with Valley View ISD, Commissioner Cantu, broke ground of the first Hidalgo County Precinct 2 Inclusive Park. Precinct 2 built and paid for the $1 million park and parking lot and made the location central to San Juan, Pharr, Hidalgo, and part of McAllen.

This park includes playscapes, a water park, fully accessible swings, gliders, merry-go-rounds, sensory walls, roller slides, and a splash pad, all designed to accommodate special needs children.

“This park is important because it is the first of it’s kind in the county. It’s called an inclusive park which means all kids will have fun together, this is not limited to any kids, and it’s not [only] for special needs kids, but for all kids.” – Eddie Cantu, Commissioner Precinct 2

“Education, social fitness, and other recreational activities are among the services I’d like to see implemented to benefit the children of Precinct 2….”
– Eddie Cantu, Commissioner Precinct 2
